Mayan Wedding Ceremony
Beach, Bubbles and Bass

Friday 6 Oct 2023 16:00 – 24:00 (Pick up at the Hyatt at 3:30pm)
The day before the formal wedding we will have a traditional Mayan wedding ceremony at the beach by Ricardo's family summer house in Chicxulub, followed by local food and dance from 4pm. Chicxulub is a small fishing village where you can enjoy golden sands, ocean views, swaying palm trees and a beautiful sunset in a relaxed and festive atmosphere.
For those of you interested in local trivia, and those of you who remember the dinosaurs, Chicxulub is where a large asteroid hit creating a huge crater now part of the Gulf of Mexico and wiping out all the pesky reptiles some 66 million years ago, leaving space for Ricardo and his family to settle.
Chicxulub is 30 minutes’ drive from Mérida city centre and located near Progreso. Progreso is home to the world’s longest pier (6.5km long, built over 80 years ago!). You might want to spend some time at Progreso beach before the Mayan wedding ceremony. This is also home to Seb’s favourite restaurant, Crabster.

Dress code: Tulum Hipster, i.e. white (or beige) light beach clothes in breathable and flowy fabrics (linen, cotton, silk); shorts, trousers or dresses, shirts; sandals or boat shoes to walk in the sand.
